WHO YOU ARE

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our team, specializing in the Repair and Storage Liens Act (RSLA). This role involves drafting legal documents, communicating with various stakeholders, and coordinating administrative tasks, all while maintaining a high level of organization and accuracy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage RSLA Applications: Oversee a high volume of applications commenced under the Repair and Storage Liens Act, ensuring all filings and documents are processed timely and accurately.
  • Draft Pleadings and Motion Materials: Prepare standard pleadings, including applications for initial certificates, final certificates, writs of seizure, requests for payments out of court, and related motion materials and affidavits.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for respondents, insurers, insured clients, and the court regarding all aspects of RSLA matters.
  • Review and Analyze Counteroffers: Review counteroffers related to RSLA claims, providing clear and concise draft recommendations for client consideration.
  • Administrative Coordination: Delegate and coordinate administrative tasks related to the case management, including maintaining and updating master file spreadsheets for both active and pending payments.
  • Coordinate Issuance of Payment and Pleadings: Oversee the timely issuance of payments into court and the issuance and service of pleadings, ensuring compliance with all procedural requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Law Clerk, with a focus on managing repair and storage lien applications and related legal processes.
  • Law Clerk Diploma and membership in Law Clerk Institute or;
    • University degree and eligibility for membership in Law Clerks Institute
  • Knowledge of the Repair and Storage Liens Act (RSLA) and related procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with clients, opposing parties, and court personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high caseload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy in administrative tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a similar law clerk role focused on lien-related matters.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced litigation environment is an asset.
