ASHLEY A. SHMUKLER

Ashley received her B.A. (Hons) in psychology from the University of Western Ontario in 2007, and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Windsor in 2011. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012.

Ashley articled at a boutique plaintiff personal injury law firm where she gained consummate experience working on motor vehicle accident, medical malpractice, professional negligence, occupier’s liability and product liability cases. In 2013, she joined a reputable full-service firm and began her career in insurance defence litigation where her practice consisted of tort, accident benefits, priority disputes, and occupier’s liability cases. In this role, Ashley received $100,000 damages award on behalf of her client in a professional negligence trial against her family practitioner.

She has represented clients before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the License Appeals Tribunal and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Ashley joined our firm in 2018 and is a member of the General Liability, LAT, EUO, and Loss Transfer and Priority Disputes practice groups.

During law school, Ashley was involved in creating the Windsor Chapter of Women’s Legal Education Action Fund (LEAF) and travelled to various high schools to teach the students about the law relating to consent. She also volunteered at the Mediation Clinic and Community Legal Aid Clinic, where she provided legal representation to low income clients.
