On October 17, 2018 the legalization of recreational cannabis came into effect. This significant change in the law brings with it new challenges for the insurance industry. Dialogue surrounding the changes has focused on an anticipated increase in claims resulting from impairment related to cannabis use, as well as the emergence of new claims related to the cannabis sector.
