Privacy & Cybersecurity

Radical advances in technology has changed the way in which data is stored, catalogued, and shared. In light of this digitalization, a multi-facet network of laws governing privacy and data protection compliance has emerged in Canada, including private-sector, health-sector and public sector statutes, sector-specific privacy obligations, statutory privacy torts, and evolving common law torts such as “intrusion upon seclusion”.

The privacy practice group is ready to assist our clients in meeting their privacy obligations. Whether it be in the accident benefits or tort context, our lawyers provide guidance on the application of privacy laws; draft and review privacy policies and information collection procedures; as well as advise on cases of privacy or security breaches. Our practice group co-chairs, Jennifer J. Griffiths and Melinda Baxter are available to answer any questions you may have on a privacy and/or data protection matter.
