ALEX REYES

Alex graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 2006, and obtained his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University in 2010. He was called to the Bar in 2011.

Alex’s clients rely on his detail-oriented, creative and practical solutions to their legal problems. With a broad and varied insurance litigation practice, Alex has a breadth of knowledge in a number of practice areas. He defends a wide range of personal injury claims on behalf of insurers and self-insured clients, including motor vehicle liability, occupiers’ liability, commercial general liability and product liability matters. He also has significant experience defending professional negligence claims, including claims against lawyers, financial advisors, health practitioners, and insurance brokers. In addition, Alex has a special interest in representing insurers on coverage matters, life and disability claims, and fraudulent investigations.

Alex has been retained as a legal agent for the Department of Justice Canada, and acts as panel counsel for the Ontario Ministry of Attorney General on insurance coverage matters.

Alex has appeared as counsel before all levels of Court in Ontario, as well as in proceedings before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. Alex is co-chair of the Coverage, Municipal Liability, Workplace Safety Insurance and Appeals, and General Liability practice groups. He is also member of the firm’s EUO and Special Investigations practice groups.

Since 2021, Alex has been recognized by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers of Canada list in the areas of Insurance Law and Personal Injury Litigation.
