JONATHAN R. CHARLAND

Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law (2013) and earned his B.A. (Hon. Spec.) in Political Science at the University of Western Ontario, where he achieved the Martin G. Westmacott Award (2010).

Jonathan is a fearless advocate with extensive motions, trial, and appellate experience. He has appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, Divisional Court, Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, as well as many tribunals. He has exclusively practiced civil litigation since his call to the bar in 2014, with experience in medical malpractice, corporate and commercial litigation, fraud, and judgment enforcement. Jonathan brings a laser-like focus to the real issues at hand and some of his cases have been reported in the Ontario Reports and cited in Watson & McGowan’s Ontario Civil Practice and Grey’s Annotated Business Corporations Act.

Jonathan is a member of ZTGH’s License Appeal Tribunal, Examination under Oath, Estate Litigation, Cannabis, Appellate, and Special Investigation practice groups.

Jonathan is a proud citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario and a member of the Indigenous Bar Association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Shared Path Consultation Initiative, a charitable organization that seeks to enhance, inform, and facilitate Indigenous – non-Indigenous bridge building, particularly within the realm of land planning practice.

In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys playing guitar and piano, hockey, skiing, hiking, gardening, and generally being in the great outdoors.
